Rita Jenkins Obituary

Rita D. Jenkins, 78, of Tupelo, Mississippi, passed away on August 28, 2025. Born November 9, 1946, she grew up in Randolph, Mississippi. She was formerly married to Larry G. Jenkins and was the devoted mother of two sons, Chris Jenkins (Vicki) and Brian Jenkins (Misty).

She is also survived by six beloved grandchildren: Ryan Jenkins, Darby Gregory, Taylor Jenkins, Hayden Jenkins Turnage (Jonathan), Mckinley Jenkins Anderson (Austin), and Kayleigh Jenkins; and four great-grandchildren: Colton Jenkins, Ellie Gregory, Koe Tutor, and Parker Hollis Anderson, and her brother, Scott Austin.

Rita retired from BellSouth (now AT&T) in the late 1980s. A talented painter who enjoyed crafts, she portrayed sacrificial and Christ-like love to her family and all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elvis D. Austin and Hazel S. Austin, and by her sister, Sandra Johnson.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Charity Baptist Church, 1478 Hwy 9 S, Pontotoc, Mississippi, with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. and the service following at 3:00 p.m. Bro. Donald Austin and Bro. Kevin Merritt will officiate. Burial will follow in County Line Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Scott Austin, Kevin Purdon, Ben Austin, Jonthan Turnage, Austin Anderson, and Skipper Johnson.
