Robert Watkins Obituary
Robert James Watkins, Sr., was born in Courtland, Alabama, to the late Edward and Cynthia Watkins. He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Tracy Mayes and Tinna Watkins; and brother, Monty Young.
He graduated from Central High School in 1966. He accepted Christ later on in life. He was always known as a generous giver and neverminded helping anyone. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He retired from Goodyear Aerospace technology in San Diego, California, after 39 years of employment. In every act of kindness, in every shared laugh, his spirit will endure, a bright beacon in the lives he shaped.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted wife of 54 years, Mattie Watkins; one daughter, Victoria Watkins-LaPierre (Jerald) of San Diego, California and Robert (Patricia) Watkins, Jr., of San Diego, California; grandchildren, LaDree Caesar, D'Aire Loving, Lauren LaPierre, RJ LaPierre, Leah Watkins, Ayden Watkins, Laila Watkins; great grandchildren, Nicholas Caesar, Jayden Caesar,; godson, Ke'Ariyen Alexander; siblings, Vera (thomas) Stanley of Courtland, Alabama, Eva Jones and Gloria McKinnon, both of Decatur, Alabama; Andrew (Linda) Watkins of Decatur, Alabama, Johnny (Angela) Watkins of Grand Blanc of Michigan, Dr. May (Robert) Bolden of Florence, Alabama, Carolyn Rains of Decatur, Alabama, Gwylin (Jerry) Crutch of Stedman, North Carolina; James (Cassandra) Swoope of Courtland, Alabama; Otis Swoope of Town Creek, Alabama; Danaouse Turnbore of Decatur, Alabama; Lorenzo (Stacy) Swoope of North Lake, Texas; Jacqueline Elliott of Decatur, Alabama; Tillie (Michael) Edmondson of Dayton, Ohio; Pearl Harris-Young of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Wedia Faye Pillows of Chattanooga, Tennessee; three sisters-in-law, Wandra (Richard) Vaughn of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Shiann Harris and Olivia (Jerry) Green of Town Creek, Alabama; four brothers-in-law, Ronnie (Emma) Harris and Jerry Harris, both of Town Creek, Alabama; Clenton (Mary) Harris of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and Frank (Yvette) Townsend of Trinity, Alabama; devoted son-in-law, Jerald LaPierre, a devoted cousin, Hazel Garner; devoted friends, Willie Garth, Curtis (Barbara) Rowe, and Dusty Green, and Donald (Carol) Guilford; wonderful niece, Alia Stanley; and a devoted sister, Dr. May Watkins Bolden, a pivotal part of his life, and they shared a special bond.
