Robin Hunter Obituary
Robin Renae Davis Hunter
September 12, 1968 – July 16, 2025
Robin Renae Davis Hunter, 56, of Eupora, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, at her home after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma. Robin was a bold Christ follower and incredible wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, teacher, and friend.
Robin was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on September 12, 1968, and went on to have a happy childhood growing up with cousins and extended family in "Ray Bottom" and attending Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Webster County, Mississippi. She graduated from Eupora High School in 1986 where she was well known for her infectious smile, dancing feet, and happy fun-filled personality that made her a friend to everyone. She married Gregg Hunter in 1988, and they began their lives together by moving to Maryland where he was stationed with the United States Army.
Once back in Mississippi, Robin worked diligently to finish her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education at Mississippi State University and began her twenty-nine-year career as a teacher. She taught math, social studies and science throughout her career and was well known for her ability to make learning fun for her students through activities like science experiments and a legendary variety of class pets including her beloved dog, Etter, that came to class wearing a tutu on occasion. She also utilized her abilities at home by teaching swim lessons for fifteen years. She celebrated her students' successes and cheered them on through difficulties.
While her students motivated her to teach, her biggest joys in life were her own daughters. Robin loved her girls dearly and never missed an activity, program, recital, game, camp, or band competition. She followed the Eupora High School Band everywhere it went for many years and was always ready for a trip to Shocco Springs for kid's camp with First Baptist Church Eupora, where Robin was a member for most of her adult life. The girls' accomplishments made Robin radiate with pride, but she was most thankful for their faith in Christ and the opportunity to see them grow into Godly women. Robin also loved time with her family "at the cabin" and never missed a chance to connect with extended family or celebrate a holiday.
Retirement included fighting a battle she didn't expect, but Robin continued to keep her beautiful smile and joyful heart in all of her experiences with Gregg by her side. Although cancer became a piece of Robin's story, it only illuminated her strength and genuine joy that she had in her Savior. Because of Christ, she overcame unimaginable pain, loss and heartache. Because of Christ, she found constant joy despite present darkness. Because of Christ, she was able to overcome death and is now rejoicing with the King. This is her testimony and a tribute to her as a faithful warrior.
Robin is survived by her husband of thirty-seven years, Greggory Alan Hunter, and their precious daughters CharLeigh Danielle Hunter, Breanna Renae Hunter, and Alana Brooke Hunter. She is also survived by her mother, Pat Freshour Ray; her brother Christopher (Karen) Ray; her sister Nycole Davis (John) Taylor; her sister-in-law Amanda Hunter (Riley) Brown; her father-in-law Larry (Becky) Hunter; her sister-in-law Lora (Chanelle) Hunter, and nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Robin is preceded in death by her fathers, Charlie Mack Davis and Charles Barrett Ray, and her mother-in-law Peggy Hillhouse.
