Shirley Gillespie Obituary

Obituary "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8 Mrs. Shirley Diane Gillespie's life ended after a long-term illness on March 4, 2025, at 5:00 PM at her daughter's house in West Point, Mississippi. Shirley was born August 4, 1955, in Chickasaw County to the late Joseph Brand, Sr., and Willie Lee Brand. She accepted Christ as her savior and was baptized at a young age and was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church. She was a loving, sweet, and kind lady who worked at Floyer Dyer Manor as a cook for 15 years. She then left the nursing home and went to Houston School and worked in the cafeteria for 10 years. She loved spending time with family, listening to music, laughing, and dancing. Her hobby was making sure her house was clean, and she loved to travel and visit people, as her favorite motto was "It's a world of trouble out here," and she loved the song "Walk With Me Lord." She leaves to cherish memories two daughters Kimberly Gillespie, and Toshua Gillespie, and a son Leonard Gillespie all of Houston MS; seven grandchildren, Jamaica, Josh, Cha'mya, Jordan, Ja'Quarius, Kourtlyn, and Donario; seven great-grandchildren, Adnan, Karson, Jermani, Jasiah, Jember, Koa and Ky'mir; two sisters, Mary Hams (Joe) of Chicago, IL, Mattie Brand of Chicago, IL; two brothers, Jackie Dean Brand of Chicago, IL, and Joseph Brand (Maxine) of Houston, MS, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
