Victor Maurice Hooks

Victor Maurice Hooks, 67, passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. He was born in Greenwood, MS on February 17, 1958 to Maurice Hooks and Yvonne Daves Moreman. Victor graduated from West Tallahatchie High School in Webb, MS. He spent most of his life in Greenwood. Victor moved to Chickasaw County in 2005 to be closer to his grandchildren. After moving to Chickasaw County, he met the love of his life, Doris Smith. They married on July 7, 2007 and had 18 wonderful years together. He loved his grandchildren deeply and they were an important part of his life, helping his son care for them. He loved riding his side-by-side. He also enjoyed watching his "bucket garden" grow while getting others to help take care of it. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He leaves behind many fond memories for them to cherish. Southern Funeral Home of Houston is honored to serve Victor's family during this time of loss. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 3:00 at Concord Cemetery in Houston. He is survived by his wife, Doris Smith Hooks; his sons, James Hooks of Woodland and Kyle Griffin of Mantee; his mother, Yvonne Moreman of Greenwood; his sister Gail Martin (Tony) of Greenwood, his sister-in-law, Gail Hooks of Carrolton; his grandchildren, Lexie Hooks, Emma Havens (Cody), and Travis Griffin; and his great-grandchildren, Natalie McDowell, Rodney McDowell, and Rustin Havens.
