Willie Green Obituary
Willie Green, T. Bone as he was affectionately called, was born to his mother, Joe Willie Richardson Green Walker and father, Joseph Green, Jr. on April 30, 1939. He peacefully answered the call of our Father on October 30, 2025.
WT grew up on the Richardson Hill in the Poplar community. He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and actively attended Poplar Springs CME church for most of his life. Growing up, he was immersed in agriculture and was fully engaged in activities at the family farm. He attended Poplar Community School prior to districting and consolidation. As a youth and young adult, he enjoyed swimming, singing and playing music, and learning about the Lord. As he grew into maturity, he became an avid bible scholar and enjoyed working and supporting his family in their business endeavors. Before his brother, Harry, passed, he assisted him with all his business endeavors including his salon days and Hawaiian Silky products. He told many stories of his days driving limousines for his brother. He took up many trades including working for Nash Plumbing, Purnell, Williams Storage and he worked in many manufacturing plants. In his older age, he enjoyed music and became a well-known harmonica player.
He also enjoyed playing guitars of all shapes and sizes. Traveling to spread the Gospel through gospel music and preaching, became one of his favorite pastimes. "Bone" was well known for his warm and outgoing demeanor, and most importantly, he was not afraid to tell people about the Lord with the greatest enthusiasm.
To his prior marriages, three children were born: Patricia, Flora Lee, and Coco. He loved his children deeply. He was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life of 23 years, Annie Dilworth, in 2002. To that marriage, two large families combined which added eight stepchildren whom he treasured as his own. He valued family deeply and loved his family until the very end.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a wife, Annie Green; children: Patricia McCann (Charles), Flora Brownlee, and Coco; stepchildren: Ann Hodges (Floyd), T'Wana Shumpert (Eric), Judy Williams (Michael), Harold Dilworth, Herbert Dilworth (Patricia), Henry Doug Dilworth (Heather), Errick Dilworth (Sherella); siblings: Wilford Green Sr., Michael Denman (Glenda), Shirley Cooley (Robert), Judy Curry (James), Pam Traylor (Chris), Marty Denman, Carona Smith (Robert), Jeffery Denman, Shirley Betts, Nathaniel James (Mary), Oliver Nelson (Brenda); a host of grandchildren and great grands, nieces and nephews, cousins, and close family friends.
