JAMES CHRISTOPHER TENNEY, 74, of Buckhannon, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born in Czar on August 30, 1950, a son of the late Raymond Earl Tenney and Leota Jean Hoover Tenney. On February 5, 1983, Jim married Patricia Faye McDonald who preceded him in death on October 6, 2019. With his parents and wife, Jim was greeted at Heaven's Gate by one step grandson, Jonathan Healey.
Forever cherishing their memories of Jim are two children: Kristy Tenney Spencer and husband, Mark, and James "Alan" Tenney and wife, Lisa Ann, all of Buckhannon; step daughter, Lisa Riggs of Dailey; three grandchildren: Kailey Lemons and husband, Bobby, Iris Tenney and fiance', Cameron Ware, and James "Dawson" Tenney; one step grandchild, Tyler Pennington and wife, Barbie; sister and lifelong best friend, Barbara Cowger and husband, Bennie, of Bergoo; mother of his children, Cindy Wentz of Buckhannon; and special aunt and uncle, Roy and Judy Tenney of Cherry Falls.
He was a man of many talents and interests. Jim had an unyielding love for the outdoors, often found immersed in the peaceful solitude of hunting and fishing. He was a tinkerer at heart, often tearing things apart, not out of destruction, but from an innate curiosity and a desire to understand. Jim cherished the simple pleasures of life, like going to ball games and watching the timeless classics of western films. His calm demeanor, coupled with the rugged charm of his hobbies, made him a captivating figure to be around.
A proud graduate of Webster Springs High School in 1969, Jim was a man of intellect and determination, which was reflected in his successful self-employment and with Burns Motor Freight for over 15 years. His Christian faith was a pillar of his life, guiding him through trials and triumphs, and instilling in him a sense of purpose and compassion.
Friends and family will gather for visitation from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, April 21, 2025, at Clutter Funeral and Cremation located at 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon.
