RALPH KENNETH "BUTCH" GIVEN JR.

RALPH KENNETH "BUTCH" GIVEN JR., 76, of Summersville, formerly of Upper Glade, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at his residence. He was born November 19, 1946 in Upper Glade, a son of the late Ralph Kenny and Velma Cora Martin Given.
Butch was a 1965 graduate of Cowen High School and was the owner of B&B Boat repair for many years. He was a member and treasurer of Camden Lodge # 107. He was secretary of the Knights of Pythias, Camden Lodge #207, Past Grand Chancellor of the Knights of Pythias, State of West Virginia, and President of the Knights of Pythias Home Board and trustee of the Grand Lodge. In his spare time Butch enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting, reloading shells for friends and attending lodge. He was a member and deacon of Seventh Day Advent Church, Summersville and enjoyed spending time with family.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Kimberly (Lawrence) Handschumacher of Craigsville, David Lee (Dottie) Given of Gauley Bridge, grandchildren, Kyle Gordon Handschumacher, Cody Lee Handschumacher, Katelynn (Dakota) Gibson, great-grandchildren, Zoey and Marshall and many other extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, loving wife, Rebecca Sue Hamilton Given, and brother, Richard Hansford Given preceded him in death.
Services were held Sunday, May 28, 2023 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Dr. Mark Wantz officiating. Burial with Masonic Graveside Rites followed in the Given's Cemetery, Upper Glade. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.morrisfuneralhomecowenwv.com
