Rolland Clay Obituary


CLAY ROLLAND HANDLEY, 72 of Craigsville passed away July 16, 2025 at his camp on Sugar Creek. Clay was born August 21, 1952 in Mississippi and was the son of the late Rolland and Marilyn Thompson Handley.
Clay was employed by the Natural Resources Conservation Service Summersville for many years and was a graduate of WVU with a degree in Agricultural Forestry. Clay enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, gardening and was a skilled banjo player.
Surviving are his daughter, Rexana (Jamie) McCourt and son, Joshua (Renae) Sill; grandchildren:, Madeline and Julian Sill; brother, Craig Handley and sisters: Chris Yardley and Zane (Roy) Handley.
Memorial Service will be 1 p.m., Sunday, July 27, 2025 at Dodd and Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs with Pastor Curt Davis officiating. Friends may join the family for visitation from noon until time of the service at the funeral home.
At the conclusion of the services friends are welcome to meet at the camp where the family will scatter his ashes.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to one of the following organizations in Clay's honor and memory: NRCS Summersville, Trout Unlimited, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, or Doctors Without Borders.
