ANNA DELORIS "DEE" LONG, 90, of Dunbar, West Virginia, passed away peacefully from natural causes on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Harmony Square, Harmony at Southridge, and is now reunited with predeceased loved ones.
On New Year's Day in 1935, Anna, or "Dee" as she was known to her family and friends, was born in Charleston, West Virginia, to her parents, William Everett Haynes and Alma Ethel Haynes (nee, Flowers). She graduated from Sissonville High in 1952, and soon thereafter, took a job with West Virginia Tractor, and then subsequently with C&P Telephone. She married the love of her life, Joseph Edgar Long, on December 17, 1965. Upon the birth of their daughter, Beth Anne Hager (nee, Long), she became a homemaker.
As well as maintaining a pristine home and providing home cooked meals for her family, Dee loved to bowl, watch WVU football and game shows, especially Jeopardy, and work crossword puzzles. She also attended regular services at Dunbar United Methodist Church, and was active within the community.
In addition to her parents, Dee was predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph Edgar Long, who left this world on November 22, 2005, siblings Carol Jordan and Gary Haynes, and half-brother Norman Haynes.
Dee is survived by her daughter, Beth Long Hager and her husband Hank Hager of Charleston, West Virginia; her brother, Carl Haynes and his wife Vicki of St. Albans, West Virginia; her nephew, Jeff Jordan of Parkersburg, West Virginia; her great nephew, Jeffrey Jordan of Morgantown, West Virginia; as well as stepdaughters, Joetta Carr of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Susan Long of Sanford, Florida, Jill Bartley and her husband Dave of Miami Florida; and 5 five step-grandchildren, Elia and Michelle Bartley, Amanda Diaz, Jonathan Goldman, and Carolina Carr.
Dee's family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Harmony Square and HospiceCare for looking after her during her last years, and for ensuring her comfort in her last days.
A service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 3, 2025 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Reverend Jarrod Caltrider officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
All mourners are invited to join family and friends for a celebration of Dee's life and a meal at Keller Funeral Home after all services.
