Carmel Lee Jordan

CARMEL LEE JORDAN, 84 of Charleston went home to be with the Lord on October 24, 2025 at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston after a long illness.
Carmel was born in Prenter, WV to humble beginnings. He went on to have a successful career in insurance and was a natural in the insurance field. His success was a testament to his strong work ethic and his unwavering belief in the power of a handshake.
Beyond his many accomplishments, he was known for his quick wit, generous heart and quiet strength. After Carmel retired, he found great joy in cooking, gardening, and lots of special family time. He loved family trips to the beach more than anything.
He was preceded in death by his son: Frank Jordan, parents: Carmel E. and Edith Ramsey Jordan and sister: Phyllis Martin.
Surviving is his devoted wife: Patti Straight Jordan, daughter: Angie (Jeff) Surface of South Charleston, son: Jim (Mary) Jordan of Florida, granddaughters: Crystal, Dana and Amanda, Andrew who he always called "his favorite grandson" with a smile and his cherished great granddaughter: Gracelyn who was the light of his life during his later years. He was asking about his baby until the end. Also surviving is his brother: Bill (Nancy) Jordan of Smith Mountain Lake, VA, several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Carmel's warmth, generosity and inspiring story will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be greatly missed. "It is more blessed to give than to receive." Acts: 20:35.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Leonard Johnson Funeral Home, Marmet with Rev. Philip Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in Marmet Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
