DONALD ALFRED GOSSELIN, 91, of Barboursville, WV passed away peacefully at home on October 25, 2025. Born in Nashua, NH, on June 7, 1934, to the late Alfred and Helen (Daly) Gosselin, Don was the oldest of six children.
Blessed with a keen analytical mind, he attended the University of New Hampshire, where he graduated with a B.S. in chemical engineering. He spent most of his career at Union Carbide (now a subsidiary of Dow Chemical), except for a brief, year-long interlude working for Stone & Webster, which took him to Japan. His career eventually led him to many other countries as a safety and health affairs manager. While working for Union Carbide in the Kanawha Valley, he met and married his wife of 59 years, Grace Chirico. They wed in 1966 and raised two sons.
A long-suffering Boston Red Sox fan, his fondest wish was to see the curse of the Bambino lifted in his lifetime. Much to his delight, he witnessed, not one, but four Boston World Series championships.
A devout Roman-Catholic, Don was a member of two Huntington parishes: Our Lady of Fatima and St. Joseph. He was a third-degree Knight of Columbus and a past president of the Serra Club of Charleston, an organization that encourages vocations to the priesthood. He also enjoyed volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and tutoring students in math.
Don is preceded in death by his wife, Grace; his sisters, Norine Hall and Barbara Wyler; and his brothers Richard and William. He is survived by his sons, Paul (Susan) and Greg; his brother, Alfred (Carole); and his grandsons, Benjamin and Jonathan.
Visitation will be at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church on Saturday, November 1st from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Committal will take place at 3 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Pecks Mill, WV.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests donating to the University of New Hampshire Foundation (
www.unh.edu/give) to fund scholarships for deserving engineering students in the College of Engineering and Physical Science, the Serra International Foundation(
theserrafoundation.org) or Catholic Relief Services (
crs.org).
