Donna Goebel Obituary

Heaven gained a fierce angel warrior, DONNA F. GOEBEL (77) on Sunday, September 14, 2025. Donna passed away surrounded by her family and loved ones after a nearly three-year battle with ovarian cancer.
She is predeceased by her parents, Denvil and Lois (Bailey) Jones and is survived by her son, Jason (April) Goebel, sister Diana (Bill) Allen, niece Jodi (Tess) Allen, grandson Adam (Alyce) Hanna and great-grandson Paul, granddaughter Cassidy (Kyle) Robson and great-grandchildren Brooks, Baylor and Bellamie, and longtime companion, Bill Signorelli. Donna's immediate family also includes Christopher (Emily) Signorelli and young Luca, Gavin and Sloane; Anthony (Amanda) Signorelli and Avery.
Donna's career began with Union Carbide Corporation in 1967 when she joined the Inventory/Asset Control team. Over time, Donna grew into a role within Human Resources where she was instrumental in working with management teams on performance appraisals, salary and bonus reviews, and all manner of compliance with OSHA, EEOC and corporate policy.
While fully employed, Donna completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at The University of Charleston, followed by her Masters degree in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management at Marshall University. Donna traveled the United States with Union Carbide, overseeing multiple plants within their portfolio. By the time she retired from DOW Chemical (formerly Union Carbide), she completed over 40 years of service.
Always curious, Donna was an avid reader and puzzle aficionado, sharpening her mind daily. She loved the classic Who-Done-Its as well as historical non-fiction. Those who knew her best recall countless times her quick wit and humor brought smiles (and belly laughs!) to those around her. Donna's love of cooking, traveling abroad (China, Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal to name a few) and hosting family events were second to none.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Donna's memory to the Hubbard Hospice House (www.hospicecarewv.org) in Charleston, WV or to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA, www.ocrahope.org).
Celebration of Donna's life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Tyler Mt. Funeral Home with a reception to follow.
Gathering of family and friends will be from Noon until time of service at the funeral home.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., followed by a late lunch.
The celebration of life will be hosted by Bill Signorelli on Saturday, October 4, 2025 from 3-6 p.m., at the Sheraton Four Points in Charleston.
Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.tylermountainfuneralhome.com

Our deepest sympathies. I followed Donna and communicated with her on Facebook. The strength and grace that she showed during her battle was nothing short of amazing. Amazing she certainly was, a great co worker for ten years at UCC and friend for many more. May she rest in peace. God bless Donna and her loving family.
