Dorothy Terrell Obituary

DOROTHY MAE "DOTTIE" TERRELL, 88, of Montgomery, West Virginia, got her two wings, white robe, and heavenly crown Wednesday morning, May 7, 2025. She fought the good fight, she finished the race, and, through it all, kept the faith. Dottie has gone up the rough side of the mountain and has done her best to make it into the Kingdom of God.
Dottie was born to Clifford and Rosetta Scott Smith on June 6, 1936, in Eagle, WV. She attended Simmons High School and was one of their high-stepping majorettes. Dottie loved to dance, and she loved to sing; but most of all, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a sharp dresser and was beautiful inside and out. Dottie retired from Montgomery General Hospital after 35 years of service. She was a long-time member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, where she was the church Mother, served as member of the choir, usher board, and was president of the Mission Society.
Dottie was a former member of the Eastern Stars and Montgomery Women's Club. Before her own health challenges, she volunteered at local nursing homes and provided emotional and spiritual support to those experiencing medical crisis. She was the best mother a child could ever have, and she is truly missed.
Dottie was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence E. Terrell, Sr., parents, Clifford and Rosetta Smith, grandsons, Donovan Taylor and Baby Terrell, and son-in-law, Gerald Taylor, Sr.
Dottie is survived by her daughters, Beverly Irving (Raleigh), Institute, WV, Pamela Barron (Raymond), Montgomery, WV, Robin McDaniel (Kevin), Pratt, WV, sons, Carl "Bo" Terrell, Sr. (Ruthie), Clarence "Toby" Terrell (Lynette), and Clifford Terrell, all of Charleston, WV, grandchildren, Gerald Taylor, Jr., Veronica Baldwin (Senica), Julian Irving (Jade), Anthony Terrell (Amy), Amy Rogers (Bishop Kendrick), Raymond Barron, Jr., Jared McDaniel, Dr. Kendalyn McDaniel, Carl "CJ" Terrell, Jr. (Ria), Bryan Terrell, Philip McLean, Qianna Foster, Bria Terrell, Isaiah Terrell, Alex Eiben, 19 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, brothers-in-law, Lawrence Terrell, Rodney Terrell (Hannah), and Sam Austin, and a host of nieces, nephews, special sisters in love, Lorna, Lavonia, April, and Watrena Terrell.
Celebration of Life services will be Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 141 Morris Dr., Montgomery, with Pastor Alphonso Douglas Mullins officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Interment at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow.
Callender Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
