Edwin Anderson Obituary

EDWIN C. "BUD" ANDERSON, III, 70, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2025. He was born October 18, 1955, in Charleston, West Virginia.
Bud volunteered to teach a friend to drive and realized his passion, which became his small business while raising his family. Through teaching for Job Corps and his own driving school he impacted many who have expressed gratitude and enriched our lives. Later in life, Bud made the choice to start a not-for-profit organization, Friends in Deed.
Because of his love for West Virginia and his community, Bud stayed involved in multiple organizations, starting with Boy Scouts and Order of the Arrow. He was Student Body President at West Virgina State College and remained active as an alumnus well into his 60s. After college Bud joined the Charleston Jaycees, who met across the street from his employer, Broughton Foods. He served in many offices of the Jaycees including chapter President and WV Jaycees Vice President. While a Jaycee, Bud chaired many projects including Charleston Fourth of July celebration and the Innertube Regatta. After aging out of Jaycees, he joined the Southridge-Pacesetters Lions Club, where he was Membership Chairman, District Peace Poster Chairman and Chapter President. Due to his love of motorcycles and Jesus, Bud joined the Christian Motorcyclists of America. Other organizations he was involved with included American Legion, Toastmasters, Table Tennis club, Kanawha Players, CLOG. For his public service, Bud was honored with the Jefferson Award, the Outstanding Young Men of America Award, the NAFEO WVSU distinguished alumnus, the BSA District Award of Merit, the Lions Club Leonard Jarret award and Lions Club Senior Master key.
Bud lived with a positive outlook. He smiled so much he got the nickname, Smileyman. Bud was kindhearted and always helping others. He cared about people no matter their "station in life."
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Veda Tully Anderson and Edwin C. Anderson, Jr., father-in-law, B.L. "Chub" Harless and brother-in-law, Ken Floyd.
Bud was married to Cynthia Harless Anderson for 38 years. She survives him along with their two children, Neal Anderson and Gary Anderson (Crystal Blake), one grandchild, Killian Anderson, brother, Jay Anderson, brothers-in-law, Mike Harless (Kim) and Jeff Harless (Pam), sister-in-law, Vicki Floyd, nephews, nieces, great nieces and great nephews.

Bud was like my family. He was compassionate, funny, devoted man to his wife Cindi. He was a part of our Christian Motorcycle Ministry, and we could always count on him being late. He was involved in events, & other organizations that we didn't know of. He will be greatly missed. Fly high Bud, rest in the arms of the Lord.
