Gary Payne Obituary
GARY W. PAYNE, 69, of Sissonville, WV passed away on October 29, 2025, at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, WV
He was born on January 10, 1956, to the late Roscoe Payne and Cumi Smith Payne. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Bud, Louis, Fred, and Howard, and four sisters: Ginny, Irene, Jean, and Audrey.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 46 years Tammy Payne, two sons Gary Payne and Joseph Payne and wife Ashton, and the love of his life his only granddaughter Phoenix Aria Payne, two brothers Odell Payne and wife Margaret and Junior Payne, and two sisters Pat Parsons and Barb Moss.
Gary was the seventh son and thirteenth child in his family. He was raised as a sharecropper's son and became a Proud Union Sheetmetal worker in Local Union #33.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Maranatha Baptist Church on November 22, 2025, from 1 to 3 p.m. There will be a small dinner after the time of gathering, with everything taking place in the multiple purpose room.

I met Gary 47 years ago when we were Sheet Metal apprentices. He was a funny guy. I'll never forget Gary and Bill Hicks arguing about Tonto's horses name.

I worked with Gary several years ago , he was a top notch Sheetmetal Worker , and always had a way of making us laugh , I am thankful that i had the opportunity to work with and get to know him , my thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones

We have lived next door to Gary and Tammy for many years. Gary loved his antique truck but most of all, Gary loved his family. He will be missed in our community!
