Uncle Herman always captured my attention and all those around him. He was just so much fun to be around, always telling stories of his experiences or maybe it was because he always lived out of state, and we just didn't get to see him as often. I was always excited to hear that he was nearby. I cherish those special memories and those limited visits so much! Uncle Herman and his brother, (my dad Bryan) were very close growing up. Growing up, I would love to hang by them as they reminisced about the mischief that they were able to find and get into growing up as brothers in Bath County, VA. The stories they would tell, and then they would laugh like a couple of kids as they questioned how they ever avoided getting seriously hurt or in trouble. I recall a few of their adventures and stories to this day. Uncle Herman was the last surviving sibling on my dad's family, not only did we lose a good man, I feel that I just lost a piece of my dad again and a link to the Bottenfield family of Deerfield VA from years ago. My condolences and prayers go out to the immediate family. May the love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ comfort and hold you close in the days ahead.
