James Boswell Obituary
JAMES "JIM" WILLIAM BOSWELL, 65, of Cedar Grove, WV, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 10, 2024 at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston.
He was born on October 4, 1959 and was raised in Glasgow, WV by his parents Roger and Louise Boswell.
Jim was a graduate of DuPont High School before beginning his career as a coal miner for Valley Camp Coal Company in Mammoth, WV. He later worked and retired from the WV Turnpike Parkways Authority based out of Chelyan. Jim was a wonderful husband and father to his wife and children. He was active in coaching softball while his twin daughters were young and loved collecting model trains.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Roger and Louise Boswell, and brother Frank Payne.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Boswell, and children Kelli (Brent) Boley of Salt Rock, Lori (Shane) Healy of Charleston, Lisa (Alan) Betourne of Monmouth, IL and Matt King of Shrewsbury. He has 7 beautiful grandchildren: Jayden, Abbi, Sawyer, Evelyn, Ava, Harper, & Lincoln. He is also survived by his brothers Roger (Barb) Payne of Hurricane, Bruce (Melody) Boswell of Cedar Grove, sisters Linda (Howard) Murphy of Shrewsbury, Diane Hudnall of Cedar Grove, Kay Short of Glasgow, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
We want to give a special thank you to Bridget Freeman at Valley Health, Dr. Cohen and the nurses and staff at the CAMC Cancer Center, and the doctors and nurses at CAMC General for taking such good care of our dad.
Arrangements are being handled by Cooke Funeral Home, 600 Old Fort St., Cedar Grove, WV 25039.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 14 from 6 to 8 p.m., at Cooke Funeral Home Chapel, 600 Old Fort St. Cedar Grove, WV 25039 with Pastor Chris Fulks officiating. Funeral service will be Friday, November 15, 2024 at 1 p.m., at the funeral home. Entombment will follow the services at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Glasgow, WV.
Cooke Funeral Home, Cedar Grove is assisting the Boswell family.

I hate learning this. Jimmy was absolutely one of my childhood hero´s. I spent hours trying to replicate every thing he did on the diving boards at Glasgow pool. I played countless basketball games with Jimmy at the basketball court in Glasgow. To this day I try to tuck my earlobe into my ear, like Jim could. I haven´t seen Jim for years, but he was never far from my memories of growing up in Glasgow. I send my condolences to everyone in the Boswell family and the others from Glasgow, like me, that just thought he was a good guy. My world got a little darker today.

Jim was a major part of my daughter's traveling softball team. He taught my daughter many things and I am thankful for knowing him and being a part of that big softball family. We shared some great times together. The girls were from different areas in WV, but they shared the commonality of competitiveness and a bond with each other. Jim was a true family gentleman of which I respected and admired. May he rest in peace.

We was so saddened to hear about James, I´ve only known James a short time, he hired me to do his roof on his home. He was a pleasure to work for and a genuine and kind person. Our prayers are with him and his Family.
