Carolyn Draayer Obituary

Carolyn Ann Draayer, 79, of Lee's Summit, MO, passed away peacefully at Kansas City Hospice House on August 23, 2025. Carolyn was born on April 7, 1946 in Milwaukee, WI to James and Audrey Parker. The family moved to Lee's Summit, MO where Carolyn graduated from Lee's Summit High School in 1964.

On August 10, 1975, Carolyn married Rodney Lynn Draayer in Loose Park. Together they raised their family in Lee's Summit. Carolyn spent many years working for Heating and Air Conditioning companies, first at Modern Aire East and later at Midwest Heating, Cooling and Plumbing as an Office Manager.

Carolyn was known for her love of cooking, slot machines and a flashy sense of style. Her books of choice were her cookbooks which she read like a novel. She loved to entertain guests and family with her cooking, often planning the get together around a new recipe she wanted to try. You could always expect her to be stylish, colorful and sometimes even sparkly when entertaining.

Carolyn was blessed to have many wonderful friends, including her 60's girls. More than anything, Carolyn loved her family. She leaves behind her son Heath (Donna) Lenahan of Lee's Summit, MO and Kimberly (Jason) Brown of Malone, WI. She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren; Jason, Ashleigh, Miranda, Elaina, Elissa and Kaddin, 5 great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild, as well as extended family in Minnesota. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband Rod, her parents James Parker and Audrey Breesawitz and parents-in-law John and Arlene Draayer.

A celebration of life will be held on September 27, 2025 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Unity Village in the Hummingbird Chateau.

Carolyn was a wonderful lady. Dave and I truly enjoyed working with her at Midwest Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing. She was always quick to laugh, had a beautiful smile, and was always dressed to the nines. We all looked forward to the amazing treats she so generously shared with us. She will be deeply missed.

Carol was a beautiful friend inside and out. As most of you knew she loved to cook and her favorite cooking show was Pioneer woman with Ree Drummond and she wanted to go see here she lived. (Pawhuska, Oklahoma) So we did. We went to the town and to the cattle ranch where they filmed the show. I have a picture with Carol wearing Ree's apron. Then we went on to Waco to see Chip and Joanna Gaines and all of their places. We enjoyed many travels and adventures. Carol is the best friend I have ever had and I will always remember her fondly.
