Jasper W. Casto

JASPER "JAPPY" WILLIAM CASTO, 82, of Spencer, died June 16, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Jasper was recently diagnosed with cancer.
He was born July 7, 1940 in Charleston, WV and was the son of the late Herman and Orpha Morris Casto.
Jasper was a 1958 graduate of Ripley High School. During high school, he was involved in FFA and baseball. In 2008, he was named Given Homecoming King and earned Father of the Year award every year since 1968.
After high school, he worked at Spencer Department Store and later retired from STAR Weld Industries.
He enjoyed baseball, fishing, boating, jet skiing and playing practical jokes on people. He had a great sense of humor and was a loving and supporting father.
In 1997, he became a grandfather and cherished every Jeep drive and tea party he had with his granddaughter, Hattie. He also enjoyed watching her run Cross Country during high school.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Casto; sister, Evelena Westfall; nephew, Ralph Casto, Jr.; and two grandnephews, Cortney Rice and Eugene Cobbs, III.
Survivors include his daughter, Jacinda (Tim Bailey), granddaughter, Hattie (Jani Linton-Hill), and his cat, Pickles.
Services will be 11 a.m. ~ Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer, WV with burial to follow at Fairplain Cemetery in Jackson County, WV. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
