Karl Blake Obituary

KARL WYATT BLAKE of Tornado, WV, also known as "Jake" passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025 surrounded by family, friends and his cherished dogs, Champ and Tucker.
Jake was born in Charleston, WV, November 17, 1946 and is the son of Francis Marion and Betty Matilda Blake. He leaves behind his older brother Frank Blake and his brother in-law Tom Myers. He is preceded in death by his sister Doris Jean Myers who passed in December 2022 and best friend, Faye Lundy of Ironton, OH who passed in December 2024.
Jake will be greatly missed by his two sons, Brian Blake and Eric Blake; Grandchildren (Brian and Sandra) Zoe and Kaylee Blake; (Eric and Michelle) Brandon and Donavon Blake.
Jake fully enjoyed his retirement from Union Carbide since 2001, loved traveling, camping and fishing and playing golf (with equal love and hate for the game). Jake was a diehard Marshall football fan. A favorite tradition was grabbing Cam's Ham with his sons on game day. He loved tinkering on cars, especially his prized 1941 Plymouth, loved the WV mountains and getting together with family at his camp.
Jake requested cremation with no funeral services and emphasized his passing to be a celebration of life. His wish was that family and friends make a toast to the good times and if watching Marshall football raise a glass (beer) and root "Go Herd" as he would.
