Kelly Clendenin Obituary

KELLY DOUGLAS "DOUG" CLENDENIN of East Bank, WV was born May 25, 1967, to Utah and Gladys Clendenin, who preceded him in death. He took his last breath here on earth on February 23, 2025, with Jacqueline "Jackie," his wife of 38 years, by his side. She never left his side and cared for him until his final days, after a long and hard illness. By example, they showed what it meant to truly love and build a life together, loving only one person for a lifetime. Being high school sweethearts, they truly loved one another through all the ups and downs that life threw their way.
Kelly is survived by his daughters, Melissa Clendenin and Ashley (Michael) Armstrong, both of East Bank, WV, his son Joshua (Hanna) Clendenin of Milton, WV and his grandchildren Matthew Armstrong, Noah Clendenin and Leah Jo Clendenin. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Nothing made him happier than being with them and watching them grow. He took every chance he had to make sure each of them had a smile on their face. Also left to cherish Kelly's memory is his sisters Marsha Sheets and Becky Kidd.
Kelly loved being outdoors, his greatest past time was fishing, if he had a rod and reel in his hand, he was at peace. Kelly made sure to install in his children the same love for hunting and fishing that he had. The time spent with their father in the woods are some of the memories they will now cherish for the rest of their lives.
His family was always his greatest accomplishment in this life. He always made each person closest to him know what they meant to him, sometimes in the simplest of ways, from having his own names for his children and grandchildren that only he called them, to just spending time on a creek bank or a morning in the woods.
Today his family takes comfort in knowing he is now at peace and has finally made his journey home, something he has been seeking within himself for some time.
At this time, the Clendenin family would like to send their gratitude to the Hospice care team that showed such support and compassion in the last weeks of his life. They would also like to thank all the employees of the WV Lottery and the State of WV, who selflessly donated leave time to Jacqueline so that she was able to stay by his side in his last days.
At this time there will not be any public services per Kelly's wishes.

Dearest Jackie, I know your heart is broken. Know that my thoughts are of you and the children. Kelly truly was a special human being; kind caring, and willing to always help in any way he could. He loved his beautiful wife and family unconditionally. Even after all these years, I still miss you. Know that I will do anything you need. Much love and sympathy. Deborah Michaux
