Mark Lee Sayre

MARK LEE SAYRE, 73, of Leon passed away Sunday December 10, 2023 surrounded by his family after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was a 1968 graduate of Charleston High School. He attended college at West Virginia University and then went into the work force. He was an employee of FMC / Olin / Clearon for 41 years, working there from September 21, 1971 - December 1, 2012. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed nature and loved to hunt, fish, take hikes, and hunt for arrowheads in his creek. After retirement he worked around the farm, napped, and spent time with his friends, family and his little buddy Jackson.
Mark was born November 4, 1950 to the late Ray Wardon Sayre and Frances Pauline (Rost) Sayre of Charleston, West Virginia.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years Deborah (Napier) Sayre, of Leon, WV; sons, Colby Sayre of Gallipolis Ferry, WV and Zachary (Gari) Sayre of Point Pleasant, WV; grandchildren, Madison Pearson of Belle, WV, Sean Wilson of Lexington, KY and Wesley Pearson of Point Pleasant, WV, Nick Cichon-Ledderhose of Germany, Antonio De Luca of Italy, as well as many special nieces, cousins, friends, and his dog Jackson.
Mark will be remembered as a great father, husband, and a friend to all, who would always do anything for those around him.
The family would like to thank Dr. Harless, CAMC Teays Valley Cancer Center and staff, Mary and Marcella of the CAMC infusion center, the CAMC Teays Valley doctors and nursing staff and all of Marks family and friends for their help in caring for him these last few months.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to HospiceCare, 1606 Kanawha Blvd West, Charleston WV 25387.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Raynes Funeral Home, Eleanor with Rev. Randy Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
