Mary Greenlief Obituary
MARY KATHLEEN GREENLIEF, 92, of Pinch, West Virginia, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at The Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, WV, after a brief illness.
Kathleen was born on December 21, 1932, at Clio in Roane County, West Virginia. She was a daughter of the late Opie D. and Mable S. Harper Jackson. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 70 years, Ersel R. Greenlief; two brothers Doral and Shelton Jackson, two sisters Doris Jackson and Iris Jarvis.
She is survived by a son, Douglas R. Greenlief and his wife, Elaine, of South Carolina; a daughter, Sheila, and her husband Mike Rucker of Pinch. Also surviving Kathleen are six grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. Surviving siblings include sisters Imogene Gwinn of Ravenswood, Shelby Gunter of St. Albans, Patricia Schnieder of Columbus, Ohio, brother Corbett Jackson of Suffolk, Virginia, in addition to siblings she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, her dedicated home health caregiver, Sherry Crowder, and the compassionate caregivers at The Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston.
Kathleen was the oldest member of Mount Tabor Methodist church and had been a member since 1960. She enjoyed her family and worked consistently to benefit her family members. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, quilting, and traveling, however, she was always glad to arrive back home.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2025 in the Hafer Funeral Home, Elkview, with Pastor Robert Fulton officiating. Burial will be in the Elk Hills Memorial Park following the service.
Visiting hours will be prior to the service from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Burial will be in the Elk Hills Memorial Park following the service.
