Michael Spencer Obituary
MICHAEL DAVID SPENCER, 75, of Poca, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 9, 1950, he was the son of the late Chester and Maxine Spencer. Mike was raised in Clay, WV, and graduated from Clay County High School before earning his degree from WV Tech. He went on to retire as an Electrical Engineer with Columbia Gas.
Mike was a devoted member of Rock Branch Independent Church, where he faithfully served as a deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was especially known for his exceptional teaching and the impact he made on those he taught and served.
In his free time, Mike enjoyed flying his radio-control airplanes, fishing, and spending time behind the wheel of his beloved Ford Mustang. Above all, he cherished moments with his grandchildren, who brought him great joy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mrs. Joyce Spencer; two children, Michael Spencer, Jr. and Chrissy Spencer; sister, Stephanie Scott; and five grandchildren, Cierra (Zac) Doss, Mallory James, Spencer James, Sami Janey, and Willow Spencer.
A tribute to the life of Mike will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Delbert Hawley and Doug Doss officiating. Burial will follow in Haven of Rest Memory Gardens, Red House. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m., to 1 p.m., prior to the service on Saturday.
