Nancy Stuck Obituary

NANCY JEAN AKERS STUCK, 96, peacefully passed away at home on December 2 surrounded by her loving family. Nancy was born in Arista, WV on April 18, 1929 to the late Russell and Lillian Akers.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 74 years, Joe, her 3 children, Daniel of Charleston, Kathy Chapman (Andy) of Albany OH, and Bryan Henry (Ginny) of Charleston, her sister Phyllis Bledsoe (Jack) of Grove City, OH, as well as 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Arline, Russell "Bud", Ted and Janice.
Nancy graduated with honors from Mullens High School in 1947 and then attended nursing school at Mountain State Memorial Hospital in Charleston where she received her RN degree in 1951. Nancy worked as an RN at Charleston General Hospital and then in employee health at C&P Telephone before choosing to stay at home as a full time mother and exemplary wife and homemaker. Nancy later returned to the workforce as a nurse manager of the children's unit at Highland Hospital where her passion was helping and caring for troubled children.
Nancy was a longtime member of Elk Hills Presbyterian Church where she faithfully served in many roles throughout the years. As a devoted mother, she generously volunteered her time as a leader and helper in her children's many activities and was involved in community groups such as the Skyline Grarden Club. Above all, Nancy found her greatest joy and purpose in caring for her husband, children and grandchildren, as well as spending time with family and friends at their camp in Pocahontas County.
A memorial service to celebrate Nancy will be held Tuesday, December 30 at 11:30 at Elk Hills Presbyterian Church with visitation beginning at 10:30.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Elk Hills Presbyterian Church or Kanawha Hospice Care. As a Human Gift donor to WVU School of Medicine, interment at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens will occur at a later date.
