A wonderful Lady. She always had a smile for all. Her genuine care for others was a blessing to everyone she came in contact with. God needed another Angel. Remember the good times.

I crossed paths with Ms. Updegrave briefly and forever ago, when she taught me kindergarten and 1st grade back in 1987-1989. But I've thought about and mentioned her frequently throughout the years. I remember that she gave me a box of colored pencils because she said I drew well, and she guided me in doing more advanced math separate from the class because I showed an aptitude for it. This encouragement stayed with me throughout my life. My mom remembered and saved the attached letter, which even more shows how kind and caring and thoughtful and patient of a woman Ms. Updegrave was. I was very sad to hear about her passing.
