NORMAN GEORGE "JACK" MOLES, almost 97, of Dunbar, WV passed away on August 15, 2025 at Hospice Hubbard House in Charleston.
He was born on November 9, 1928 in Dutch Hollow in a log house next to the Wine Cellars in Dunbar, WV to the late Ernest L. and Sadie Mae Moles.

Jack was a 1949 graduate of Elkview High School where he was on the boxing, baseball, track, and football teams. After high school, he went on to attend Morris Harvey College. Jack later attended the many sporting events of his son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He did many things, and was good at them all. Jack worked as a supervisor for 38 years at Midwest Steel Corporation where he supervised projects in many states including a one year project in Hawaii, which his family accompanied him for nine months, dismantling the last cane railroad track and selling off equipment. He was self-employed at Midwest Metals for ten years before he retired.
Jack worked had and played hard, running The Charleston Distance Run for the first time at the age of 58 having only practiced running at three miles. He then ran the distance run a second time at the age of 59. Jack was also a talented musician playing the five string banjo and the guitar. He once played music with Loretta Lynn in the '60s while working on a project in Tennessee. Jack loved bluegrass music playing with his friends, and always encouraged family members to play an instrument. He also loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter, and passed that outdoor heritage to his son, Greg. Jack enjoyed working with horses, and that enjoyment was also passed down to his children. Jack was a friend to many people always trying to help them by showing them how to do something or find something they needed.
