Patricia Bartlett Obituary

PATRICIA ANNE ROBINS BARTLETT, 91, of Charleston, WV, died on February 16, 2024 at Hubbard Hospice House West.
Patricia was born October 26, 1932, in Glen Morrison, WV, the daughter of the coal camp's doctor.
The family moved to Charleston when she was about 13. She attended Stuart Hall School, in Staunton, VA where she played tennis, basketball, and field hockey, as well as piano. She graduated with a degree in psychology from WVU, and was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority.
After her mother invited him to join the family at Robin's Roost on the Potomac River, Patricia fell in love with James Bruce Bartlett. He was awed by her proficiency with the rod and reel, and lack of squeamishness dealing with the occasional eel. They were married in 1956. Patricia was an avid gardener, known for the year-round beauty of her landscaping. She loved classical music and opera and she and her family spent many a happy day boating and fishing on their home built sailboat on the Rappahannock River, where her parents retired. She was a lifetime member of St. John's Episcopal Church.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Edwin Robins, Jr. and Doris Hagar Robins, her brother, Joseph E. Robins III, her husband, James B. Bartlett, and her son, Bruce Robins Bartlett.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Jane Bartlett, son in law William S. Yarnell, grandchildren Rowan Kemp Yarnell and James Conway Yarnell, as well as her beloved cousin Kemp Littlepage McElwee.
She did not wish to have a funeral service, those who wish to honor her memory may make a donation to St. John's or Hubbard Hospice House.

Still miss her. She was lovely in every way and witty. Patti loved cats--how well I remember. Jim and Patti were made for each other which is rare. Sending sympathy still to you Elizabeth their daughter.

I have known Patti for such a long time as first it was through her husband and then because I taught at J.E. Robins Elementary. I was floored to learn that J.E. Robins was her grandfather and also floored that her dad had the same name. Both of them were doctors. How I remember Jim and Patti's loss of their son Bruce. Patti and I kept up our friendship for years and as her daughter Elizabeth agreed, Patti was beautiful inside and out. Sending my love and sympathy to you Elizabeth, her loved daughter and to you Kemp, her loved cousin. So hard to lose a dear friend such as Patti. May she rest in peace knowing that she was loved and admired.
