Bob was more my older brother than my cousin. My earliest core memories involve Bobby when I was a young child. He seemed to be 7 feet tall and always humored my requests to carry me on his shoulders, even when it needed to dip low and get under the door frame. He made himself late to high school because I wanted to be walked into my kindergarten class and he didn't have the heart to say no. He let me tag along when he went to the store and taught me to love Dr Pepper with peanuts. He let me drive the mule drawn tobacco cart down the path and took the blame when I almost drove it into the ditch. He always found the humor in life and made light of difficulties. In the last few years he has been a confidant and wise advisor and I'll treasure every minute we had together. I love you cousin. Sandy, I know he loved you to most to be sure.

Uncle Bobby, my moms first cousin which actually made him my second cousin, made several visits over the years back here in NC and maintained connections with our family closely in the past few years. I remember the photos he would send to us of the monster bucks he would harvest and for almost 5 years I would go on and on to my husband and insist he would love Bobby when he finally met him. Last October, uncle Bobby was able to join our family on vacation to the river and my husband immediately formed the connection I knew he would, being an avid hunter himself. We will treasure the stories and tales shared, especially that one weekend last October, and tell our children about their awesome uncle Bobby who was an ecclectic and warm person, generous in stories, full of steadiness, wit, and humor. He is greatly missed but I'm so thankful for the times we did have in the last few years and for the impression he made on my own family.
