Ruth Ann Craigo

RUTH ANN CRAIGO, age 86, of Cedar Grove passed away Thursday, September 25 at the Hubbard House in Charleston, WV, after a hard-fought battle with Parkinson's disease. She maintained her grace, kindness, and everlasting strong spirit throughout. Ruth was an active member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church prior to her illness. She retired from the Kanawha County Board of Education where she worked in clerical, most notably for the Carver Career Center.
She was also extremely adventurous. She loved to go on missionary trips around the world, participating in more than a dozen. She cared for those less fortunate and gave however she could. In particular, treating babies on these trips was her calling. Throughout her life she took on any challenge, from multiple 100-plus-mile backpacking trips in New Mexico, to a high seas adventure camp in Florida, and even skydiving later in life as well. She was an indomitable force and an institution in and of herself.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and James Shelton, brother James Shelton "Jim Bob", son David Allen Craigo, daughter Brenda Lee Craigo, and her husband Clarence Craigo Jr. She is survived by her "partner in crime" and faithful grandson James Hudnall "Rusty", great-granddaughter Estelle Quinn Hudnall "Stella", step granddaughter Laney Barnett, her step great-great granddaughter Everlee Fowler, granddaughter Tasha Craigo, sisters Wanda Bass and Sonja Hudnall, and brother Larry Shelton.
The family welcomes friends from 5 - 6 p.m., with a short service to follow, on Monday, September 29 at Cooke Funeral Home Chapel, 600 Old Fort St., in Cedar Grove, WV. 25039.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Meadowbrook Acres Nursing Center, who make those walls as special as they can. She loved you and she felt your love. We also express our appreciation for the thoughtful, compassionate care given by Hospice and the Hubbard House in Charleston, WV.
