Sarah Terrell Obituary

SARAH LYNN TERRELL age 72, went home to be with the lord on Tuesday May 14, 2024. Sarah was born on January 17, 1952, to parents Richard and Anna Jean Howard in Montgomery, WV.
She graduated from Montgomery High School in 1970. After high school Sarah served as a Dietician at Montgomery General Hospital. After working there for five years, she took a job with Equitable Insurance Agency. Three years later, Sarah decided she wanted to become a full-time homemaker, wife and devoted mother.
As a homemaker, Sarah became an avid gardener and a fabulous cook. She spent countless hours working in her gardens, growing vegetables and a huge assortment of flowers, bushes and shrubbery. A lot of the vegetables she raised ended up in some delightful dish she served her family or shared with everyone in the community and especially her church. She had a gift for baking, Spice Apple Cake, Zucchini Bread, Pumpkin Rolls, all sorts of pies and cakes. Sarah could cook just about anything and when she did, it wasn't just a meal, it was a joy and a delight. This gift for cooking was a blessing that many say she acquired from her wonderful grandmother, Sarah Holmes. Sarah was also chic stylish and fashionable. Whether going to church, an event or a special occasion, she knew how to dress. She always wore these beautiful hats. Her dresses and pant suits were elegant. She took pride in her clothes and how she looked wherever she went.
In October 1964, during a revival at the First Baptist Church of Kimberly, Sarah accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She was baptized on September 17, 1970. Sarah married the love of her life, and his name is Lawrence Nathaniel Terrell. The two endured the trials and tribulations and the joy and the happiness that come with 53 years of marriage. Shortly after their marriage, God blessed them with a beautiful son, Lawrence Nathaniel Terrell, Jr. Junior became the love of her life.
Sarah was preceded in death by her grandparents, George and Sarah Holmes, Father Richard Howard, brothers Richard Howard Jr., and Michael Howard.
She is survived by her mother, Anna Jean Howard of Montgomery, WV, brother Steven Holmes of Charleston, WV, sister Donna Jean Howard of Charlotte, NC, aunts Lou Workman of Charlotte, NC and Barbara Woods of New Orleans, LA, Uncle Stewart Holmes of New Jersey, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Service will be held 12 p.m., on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Brookside Ministries at Mount Carbon, WV with Reverand Larry Smith, Reverand William Isaac Kenney and Reverand Carl Terrell officiating. Visitation will be one hour before service.
Family would like to thank the following. Cedar Ridge Health Center, Montgomery General Hospital Rehabilitation Center, Brookside Ministries, First Missionary Baptist Church of Kimberly and O'Dell Funeral Home.
