Ann McGlothlin Lilly

Ann McGlothlin Lilly, age 83, of Fort Myers, FL, passed away on October 6, 2025. Ann was born on September 11, 1942, in Tazewell County, VA, to the late Harold McGlothlin and Ruby Brown McGlothlin. Her musical career began at age 9 in Tazewell, VA, with piano lessons from her most beloved piano teacher, Mrs. Hankla. She was a graduate of Tazewell High School. She was a music major at Carson-Newman College and went on to get her master's degree in organ from Indiana University. She was eager to inspire the gift of music in young students. As a lifelong musician, Ann was dedicated to sharing the transformative power of music with her students. Her teaching philosophy was rooted in the belief that music education is accessible to everyone and provides a unique path for personal and creative expression. Ann taught at Bluefield University in Bluefield, Virginia, and Concord University in Athens, West Virginia. A talented organist and pianist, she performed many concerts throughout the years, including at the Washington Cathedral in Washington, DC. She was the organist for years at Chapel by The Sea on Fort Myers Beach until her retirement. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Richard Lilly. A graveside service for Ann McGlothlin Lilly will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum #4 in Claypool Hill, Virginia, with the Rev. Lee Kidd officiating. Interment will follow.
