Arnold Lee Johnson, 90 of Hinton passed away Friday March 27, 2026 at Main Street Care in Hinton following a long illness.
Born January 28, 1936 in Hinton, he was the son of the late Samuel Owen and Charlotte Ella "Peggy" Cales Johnson.
Arnold Lee was a 1954 graduate of Hinton High School. After graduation he embarked on a career with Bethlehem Steel Corporation as a master pipefitter in Baltimore, Maryland. He was a dedicated employee of Bethlehem Steel for over 40 years. After retiring in the late 1990's, Arnold Lee returned to his beloved Hinton to be near his family who meant so much to him. He especially enjoyed working at Big 4 Drug in Hinton after retiring, nurturing many friendships and creating lasting bonds with the entire Summers County community. Arnold Lee loved the outdoors, especially bird-watching, reading his Bible and spending time on the river with family and friends. He was a faithful member of the Hinton Church of Christ and also was a member of the pipefitters union.
Besides his parents, Arnold Lee was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Johnson; an infant daughter, Mary Ellen Johnson; a grandson, Scotty Truckenmiller; one sister, Sue Neighbors and four brothers, Kenneth Owen Johnson, Bobby Joe Johnson, Daniel Louis Johnson and Melville Shepherd "Bud" Johnson.
Left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Brenda Lee Truckenmiller of Nashville, TN and Carol Johnson of
Baltimore, MD; a loving sister, Wilma Grace Angotti of Hinton; three grandchildren, Savannah Baker, Sarah Jane Truckenmiller and John Truckenmiller; two great grandchildren and one expectant great grandchild, nephews, David Johnson, John Angotti, Jr., Daniel Johnson, Jr., Christopher Cashwell and Kenny Joe Johnson; nieces, Susan Johnson, Patty Thomas, Mary Jane Walters and Amy Wykle; two sisters-in-law, Judy Lytle and Carolyn Johnson; special friend, Jo Ann Nichols of Hinton and close friends Jake Allen and Rhonda Lilly, as well as the entire Big 4 family who were very dear to Arnold Lee. The family would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Main Street Care in Hinton for the love and care shown to Arnold Lee for the past 7 years, as well as Hospice of Southern West Virginia for their compassion and professionalism.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday April 2nd 2026 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Minister Walter Dekle officiating. Burial will follow in the Fox Cemetery at Brooks, WV. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
