Myra Allen Obituary
Myra Jean Harley Allen, age 77, of Daytona Beach, FL, formerly of Alexandria, VA passed away peacefully Monday, June 3, 2024, at the Advent Health, Daytona Beach Hospital. She was born on July 24, 1946, in Swedesboro, NJ, a daughter to the late Bernard and Paula (Puckett) Harley. Jean graduated in 1965 from George Washington High School in Alexandria VA. She went on to work for the US Army Material Command in Alexandria for 24 years as a secretary and later worked another 12 ½ ffor the Defense Technical Information Center in Fort Belvoir, VA, where she proudly retired in 2002. Jean was an active member of the 1st Baptist Church of S. Daytona Beach and was well known for her greeting cards, she enjoyed writing to anyone that was sick, had anniversaries, birthdays, or to anyone to make them smile. She will be remembered for her love of the outdoors, especially taking care of her yard, and donating time to the citizens patrol of Daytona Beach and VITAS Hospice. Her favorite things included playing word search and spending time with her family and friends. She was a true angel and will be deeply missed. Jean is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, David Allen of Daytona Beach, Fl, her son, Bernard Allen of Denver, CO, her Granddaughters, Jordan and June Allen of Denver, CO, her cousins, Nancy Yerkey of Richmond VA., Sherry Gallimore and her husband Dale, of Stafford, VA, Gary Petitt and his wife Carol, of Murrells Inlet, SC, Betty Ann Verant of Warrenville, SC, and many more loving Cousins. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lobban Funeral Home Chapel in Alderson, W.Va. with the Pastor Ronald Roanch Officiating. Burial will follow at the Alderson Cemetery in Alderson, W.Va. Friends may call Friday, June 14, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Lobban Funeral Home in Alderson, W.Va., and one hour prior to services at the Funeral Home on Saturday. Serving as pallbearers will be friends and Family. Lobban Funeral Home is honored in being entrusted with the arrangements.
