Nancy Bailey Obituary
PRINCETON - Nancy Fay Harvey Bailey, 89, of Princeton, passed into Glory on Thursday, October 16, 2025, around 7:00 a.m. at Ridge Care in Princeton, West Virginia following a short illness. Born August 4,1936, at her parent's home on Johnston Street in Princeton, she was the tenth child of the late Henry Harvey and Florence Keatley Harvey.
Nancy was a 1955 graduate of Princeton High School and married Ronald L. Bailey in 1957 who predeceased her in 2013. She was a former employee of Princeton Pharmacy and then worked in the Mercer County Sheriff's Office and the Mercer County Assessor's Office in the Mercer County Courthouse. She loved her job working with the public and retired at age 65 but went back to work in the Mercer County Assessor's Office and the Mercer County Commissioners Office and continued working till age 80. Nancy was a member of Kee Street United Methodist Church in Princeton active in the choir for many years. She was also active in many organizations including Mercer County Farm Bureau, Clay Memorial Park Foundation, Mercer County Democrat Club and Eastern Star. She was elected WV Democrat of the year in 2015 and attended a special awards ceremony in Charleston, WV., In which the honor was bestowed upon her and Ronald posthumously. She was also very active in the annual Bailey Reunion.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Louise Humphries, John Harvey, Alma Akers, Jimmy Harvey and Robert Harvey.
Survivors include her son, David Bailey and wife Sandee of Roanoke, Virginia; five grandchildren, Matthew of Manassas, Virginia, Jason of Lynchburg, Virginia, Michael of Lynchburg, Virginia, Krisee of Spotsylvania, Virginia, and Carol Ann of Radford, Virginia; three grandchildren, Evie, Moriah, and Ellie all of Spotsylvania, Virginia. Nancy had two surviving sisters-in-laws, Loretta Harvey of Bluefield, West Virginia and Ann O'Quinn of Baltimore, Maryland.
Funeral services will be conducted with a memorial/life celebration starting at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey- Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with John Puckett and Rev. David Lee, officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, West Virginia.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Kee Street United Methodist Church, 311 Kee Street, Princeton, WV 24740.
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 23, 2025 from noon until service hour at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.bailey-kirk.com.
