Shirley Thompson Obituary

MATOAKA – Shirley Thompson, 77, of Matoaka, died Thursday, October 2, 2025. Born March 2, 1948, in Dallas, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Marion and Ava George. In her spare time, Shirley enjoyed watching the birds, and playing puzzles and games on her tablet. She liked to watch NASCAR with her grandsons. In addition to her parent, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Thompson; infant twin daughters; two sons, Christopher Thompson and Tony Thompson; one daughter, Tammy Norris; one sister, Doris Martinez; and three brothers, Larry George, Doyle George and Kenneth George. Survivors include one son, Richard Thompson, Jr. and wife Vanessa of Princeton; one daughter, Sandra Bailey and husband Rodney of Matoaka; three brothers, Marion George, Raymond George and Franklin George; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and one on the way. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2025, at the Robert Bailey Cemetery, Clines Country Road, Matoaka, with Pastor David Lee officiating. Friends and family attending the service are asked to meet at the cemetery. Arrangements by Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
