Vera Jones Obituary
Vera Sue Anderson Jones, a cherished matriarch, and a beacon of faith and love in her community, formerly of Pembroke, VA passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, in the care of Heritage Hall-Rich Creek. Born on October 25, 1946, Vera's life was a testament to the power of unwavering dedication to family, work, and faith.
Vera's journey began as the daughter of the late Harry Rollen Anderson and Hester Miller Anderson. She grew up alongside her siblings, forging a path that would be marked by resilience and compassion. Her brother, Donnie Anderson (and his wife, Pat), and brother-in-law, Blake Calfee survives her, continuing the legacy of the Anderson family. Vera was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her devoted husband, Walter Lee Jones Sr., her dear siblings, Ronnie Anderson and Nancy Calfee, and her treasured niece, Rhonda Sue Blankenship.
Vera's life was one of service and commitment, both to her family and her career. She found fulfillment and purpose during her years of production at Celanese. Her involvement in the workplace was paralleled by her active participation in the Pembroke Assembly of God, where her Christian faith was nurtured and where she, in turn, nurtured the faith of others. Vera's interests were a reflection of the beauty and vitality she brought to every aspect of her life. An avid gardener, she could often be found tending to her plants, imparting life lessons as she nurtured each bloom.
The heart of Vera's world was her family, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and strength. Her sons, Walter Jones Jr. and Randy Jones, will carry forward the values she instilled in them. Her grandchildren, Ryan (and wife Lauryn), Dale (and wife Stacey), Logan Dennis, and Keela Bennett (and husband Tice), as well as her great-grandchildren, Rylee, Harper, Aiden, Kendall, Brantlee, Gabriella, and Ryder Jones, will always remember her as a guiding light and a source of unwavering support.
