Wilma Powers Mabe

WHITETOP, VA Wilma Powers Mabe, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion, VA. Wilma was born in Smyth County, VA, to the late Glenn and Ruth Williams Powers. One of nine children, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Ed Powers, and her beloved husband, Rex Mabe. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Wilma centered her life around her family, caring deeply for each one of them. She had a special bond with her daughter, Judy, whom she lovingly cared for throughout the years. Wilma's faith was the foundation of her life. A faithful Christian woman, she lived in a way that reflected the love of Jesus to everyone she met. She was a cherished member of Whitetop Baptist Church, where her presence and kindness will be deeply missed. She is survived by her son Gary Mabe; daughter Judy Mabe; grandchildren Ruby, Lyric, Hunter, & Troy; brothers Wade Powers, Willard Powers, Neil Powers, & Dale Powers; sisters Glenna Hurley, Bertha Lou Wright, & Betty Blevins; sister-in-law Peggy Powers; brother-in-law Barney Mabe; along with several nieces, nephews, and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM, Friday, August 22, 2025, from the Bradley's Funeral Chapel in Chilhowie with Pastor Chris Goodman and Brother Jeff Powers officiating. Interment will follow at Miller Cemetery in Whitetop. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00PM on Friday at the funeral chapel.
