Gilbert Archuleta Obituary

Gilbert Ernest Archuleta 1937- 2025 It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Gilbert Ernest Archuleta a beloved husband, father, uncle, godfather, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. After 88 years, Gilbert was called home to be reunited with his loving wife Sylvia on September 17, 2025. Born in Pajatito, New Mexico on May 20, 1937. He lived a long and humble life, filling ours with wisdom, and unconditional love. He had the most contagious laugh and biggest smile.

Gilbert met the love of his life Sylvia Ortega at a family gathering in New Mexico. They would continue to meet at these family gathering, share a drink with each other, have endless conversations, while cruising around the dirt roads of New Mexico and closing out the night dancing with each other. Now they are reunited again dancing in the clouds.

They married on July 27, 1957 at Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Welby, Colorado. In 1965 Gilbert and Sylvia decided to move to Wyoming to raise their 4 daughters and explore job opportunities. He was longtime member of the Jaycees. Very involve in Hell on Wheels, a member of the American Legion, and member of Holy Trinity Church. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, Buckley Air Force Base Colorado. Work for over 20 years plus at the City of Cheyenne (Sanitation Department).

When Gilbert was not working you would find him spending time with Sylvia sitting outside enjoying an ice cream, go out for breakfast at Shari's, crusin down to Fort Collins to purchase lotto scratchers, to Johnson Corner to pick up some cinnamon rolls, and even they would cruise all the way down to La Popular in Denver, Colorado to pick up tamales and sweet treats to bring back to the grandchildren. Every time he would drive down to Denver he would reminisce and tell us how he cruised the streets of downtown Denver while riding his bicycle to get to work.

When the Denver Broncos would play, you would always find him in his Denver Bronco gear with his peanuts and beer by his side, cheering them on. During the summer you would find him at the golf course with his friends. The most fun he had on the golf course was playing side by side with his grandchildren. Helping them work on their golf game, having long conversations, letting them drive the golf cart, but most importantly creating those lasting memories with them.

Gilbert Archuleta is survived by his sister Maggie Prissy of Lakewood Colorado, his four daughters: Debbie Oliez (Robert), Yvonnie Maestas (Billy), Florenda Gutierrez (Raymond), and Stephanie Archuleta-Morales (Greg).

Additional Survivors by his 7 grandchildren: Tiffany Rein (Tyson), Joshua Gutierrez (Andrea), Gabriel Gutierrez (Tiffany), Paul Oliez (Kimberly), William Reczek, John Reczek, Hannah Morales and numerous great grandchildren.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents: Matias Archuleta and Pita C. Lopez, his wife Sylvia Archuleta. His siblings: Antonio Archuleta, Able Oliver Archuleta, Esther Deleon, and MaryAnn ( Annie) Ramirez.
