I have such fond memories of Mike! He was in my third grade classroom back in the early 70's. Mike was a smart, funny, and imaginative little boy, who was always full of fun! I remember, very well, how his eyes sparkled in mischief, but he was always kind and helpful to others. I will never forget the day I saw Mike, who'd just been in the lunchroom, gleefully sitting in the back of a large delivery truck riding out through the parking lot!! Even though I was running through the school to catch the truck, Mike didn't realize his decision might have been questionable until the truck stopped to turn out of the parking lot ready to turn onto the road! I was running out the door, and Mike had jumped off the truck! We met each other in the yard! Of course, we had a very serious discussion that day!! He was so sincerely surprised by what he'd done, it was too hard to be very angry for such an adventurous little boy!
I'm so very sorry for Mike's passing, but I'll always cherish the good memories of my year as his teacher! God Bless you all.
