Sylvia Jane (Williams) Wright, 81, of Oriental, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern. She was born on Dec. 14, 1942, in Winston-Salem. The daughter of Paul and Sylvania (Smitherman) Williams, and a graduate of Northwest High School Class of 1961. She was united in marriage to Joe Wright on Aug. 14, 1993, and together they shared nearly 31 years of marriage. Prior to moving to Oriental, she worked as a financial counselor at North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem from 1980 to 1997. In Oriental, she worked as a sales associate at Village Hardware and Marina from 2010 until her death. She is survived by her husband; son, Jeff (Elizabeth) Shore, of Marion, IL; brother, Jackie (Betsy) Williams, of East Bend; grandchildren, Savannah (Steve) Windhorn Quinn and Jason Windhorn, of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Victoria Shore, of Marion, IL and Benjamin Shore, of Charlotte; great-nephews, Scott Williams and Evan Williams, of East Bend; step-sons, Dean (Susan) Wright, of Raleigh and Ricky (Anne) Wright, of Columbia, SC; and step-daughter, Wendy Rogers, of Greensboro. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jeana Shore Windhorn; son-in-law, Douglas Windhorn, of Lakeville, MN; and nephew, Ken Williams, of East Bend. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Oriental Marina & Inn/Toucan Grill Tiki Bar in Oriental. Time to be determined. Any and all family and friends are invited.

We´re so sorry to hear of Mrs. Jane´s passing. Our thoughts are with the family. She was always a friendly lady. We know she´ll be truly missed.

I enjoyed knowing Jane and the Williams family so much. I was so saddened to hear of her passing. May her husband and other family members be lifted from sorrow and be comforted by her memories. Rest in peace Jane. You are sorely missed.
