Andrew Verostek Obituary
Andrew Robert Verostek, Jr., 78, of Rock Hill, SC, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, surrounded by his family, who had the blessing and privilege to be with him during his final hours. Born in Pennsylvania, in 1946, Andrew was the beloved son of the late Andrew Robert Verostek, Sr. and Eris Jacqueline Verostek.
Andrew was a graduate of Gannon University and spent his entire 46-year career as an accountant with Rockwell International and its spinoff, Meritor Automotive. He was known for his sharp mind, steady work ethic, and quiet dependability.
A man of faith and service, Andrew volunteered with the St. Mary's Catholic Church Outreach Program, where he found great purpose in helping others. He thoroughly enjoyed driving people to doctors' appointments or the DMV, securing heating supplies and eyeglasses, and-given his expertise and attention to detail-eventually took charge of the books and records.
Andrew was preceded in death by his best friend and the love of his life, Mary Ann (Fuller) Verostek, with whom he shared a lifetime of adventure and happiness. Mary Ann left us far too early, and some say Andrew ultimately died of a broken heart. He is survived by his four children: Robert Verostek (Allison), Catherine Robitaille (John), Elizabeth Verostek (Stan Mintchev), and Theresa Hunter (Colt); and by eight grandchildren who brought him great pride and joy: Zoe Verostek, Kyra Hopper (Selik), Jean-Luc Robitaille, Jane Robitaille, Mary Ellen Hunter, Madeline Mintchev, Eris Hunter, and Emma Hunter. While he often told his family directly how proud he was of them, it has been especially meaningful to learn, since his passing, just how often he shared that same pride with his friends and extended family.
He is survived by his loving sister Carol Deen (Jack), his devoted brother Ken Verostek (Marsha), and many extended family members and friends, including Jean Viglione (Judy), a lifelong confidant and partner in their dynamic duo of mischief, who will remember him for his kindness, wit, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved.
Andrew had a lifelong fascination with trains-collecting many Lionel sets and attending the Holiday Train Show in New York with his daughter, Liz. Each Christmas, he delighted in setting up a train around the tree, a tradition that became a cherished part of the holiday season. He had a fondness for flowers and their beauty, a keen eye for cars-especially the thrill of shopping for them-and as soon as he bought one, the hunt for the next would begin, knowing it could take that long to find the perfect deal.
He loved to make his favorites-his mom's chocolate chip cookies, cranberry sauce, and mayonnaise cake-which he shared generously with family and friends. He donated to hundreds of charities, always looking out for the less fortunate-a generosity that resulted in a bushel basket of additional donation requests arriving by mail each week. And most of all, he had a deep love for spending time with his family-whether gathered around the dinner table, traveling on vacations to Disney or the beach, sharing stories with Zoe for hours during family holidays, having afternoon cocktails at the shore with Carol and Jack, or staying connected through the many phone calls that kept him close to those he loved.
Andrew's life was marked by quiet strength, deep family devotion, and a steady presence that grounded those around him. He will be remembered not only for the life he built with Mary Ann and their children but also for the warmth he extended to all who knew him.
"Let all that you do be done in love." -1 Corinthians 16:14

As he said at the end of every phone call, with his signature warmth and care: "Have a great night and a great day tomorrow." May we carry that gentle blessing forward, in his memory.
