Darryl "Pop/Bump" Lewis, 75, of Rock Hill, SC passed away on September 4, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Darryl was born May 29, 1950 in Chester, SC to Fred and Marian "Jo" (Lowe) Lewis. He is survived by his children Garrick (Jen) Lewis, Meg Stahl and her husband Gary Phillips, Stuart (Stacey) Bowden, and Beth (Eric) Werhan. In addition to his children, he is survived by his former wife, Linda (Ford) Lewis, who remained his close friend despite parting ways in marriage in 2007. He is also survived by his mother, his sisters Freda (Vinny) Lombardo of Chester and Luann Frazer of Rock Hill. His niece Liz Lombardo and his grandchildren, Jack Bowden, Grayson Stahl, Ainsley Stahl, Bethany (Allen) Phillips and Katie (Daniel) Field, Jaelyn (Kyle) Keuhnhold, and Jillienne Reithmiller were his pride and joy and he loved to watch them grow and experience life. He was also blessed to have two great-grandchildren, Maggie Wike and Vivian Grace Keuhnhold. And, finally, he is survived by Pearl, his 2015 Camaro and true love.
After spending many years working alongside his father in the family convenience stores, Darryl served the businesses and people of Rock Hill first as an advertising salesperson for The (Evening) Herald and then as a realtor.
Darryl worked enthusiastically for Rinehart Realty for 34 years until his retirement in 2020.
Finding houses which families could turn into homes and create memories for many years brought him great satisfaction. He could recall transactions and clients from many years past with great clarity which showed his love for his work and always amazed our family.
Darryl had many hobbies including all things Disney and watching movies. He had a lifelong love of not only reading but also writing. He spent many hours in front of the keyboard putting his creative storytelling skills on paper to share with others with his story Sawnee Creek winning a literary award and being published.
In addition to his love of his Camaro, Pearl, he had a lifelong enthusiasm for classic cars of all kinds. This was a passion he eagerly shared with his granddaughter, Ainsley, and his close friends.
We would like to thank Michelle Harrison of Agape Palliative Care for all her help, knowledge and understanding in caring for our dad. The level of compassion she showed during this difficult time was unparalleled.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Children's Home of York County or a
charity of their choice.
A celebration of life will be held at his daughter, Meg's, home at 699 Sedgewood Drive in Rock Hill on Saturday September 13, 2025 from 1:00 – 3:00.
