Harry Broadwell Obituary

Rock Hill, South Carolina – Harry Lester Broadwell, Sr. formerly of Fort Mill, South Carolina stepped from this earthly life into the saving arms of Jesus Christ, Harry's Lord and Savior, in the peaceful secure halls of Heaven on July 24, 2025. Harry was the son of the late Evelyn and William Broadwell. Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Broadwell of Tabor City, North Carolina and sister, Clara Cloniger. Harry's family also includes daughters Sheila B. Cabaniss (late husband David) of York, Harriett A. Winters (Russell) of Rock Hill, and son Harry L. Broadwell, II (Mindy) of York, five grandchildren, David Winters (Amanda), Griffin Poulter (Josh), Christian Broadwell (Erica), Rose Bootle (Jacob), Noah Broadwell, four great-grandchildren, Dominic Poulter, Corbin Poulter, Malachi Winters, and Fletcher Winters, cousin Joann Blackwell of Fort Mill, South Carolina, and a number of nieces and nephews. Harry was a graduate of Fort Mill High School. He worked at Rock Hill Printing and Finishing Company for a number of years before working as pipe fitter welder at General Tire in Charlotte, North Carolina before retiring after thirty-five years of faithful service. Harry was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves as Staff Sergeant for a number of years. He was a faithful member of Inspiration Baptist Church, Rock Hill, South Carolina. The family would like to express a word of thanks and appreciation to Dr. Parag Anandpura and Via Health Partners Hospice for caring for Harry. Harry enjoyed singing and playing guitar and admired his favorite guitarist, the late Chet Atkins, of Nashville, Tennessee. He will be greatly missed as a faithful husband, loving father, and devoted example of putting Jesus first in his walk on life's highway. Harry, who is affectionally remembered by his grandchildren and great grandchildren, as Poppy, would lovingly encourage his family to "do whatever works for you," knowing that only what we do for Christ will be what speaks the loudest and makes the difference for the best in this life. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 10:00 – 10:50 am at Inspiration Baptist Church, 1097 McConnells Highway, Rock Hill, SC 29732. A Celebration of Life and Remembrance will be held at 11:00 am at the church with Harry's son, Rev. Harry L. Broadwell, II and Rev. Rick Martin officiating, followed by a graveside burial at Grandview Memorial Park – Cherry Road, 620 South Cherry Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732. Greene Funeral Home is serving the family. Harriett, I am so sorry I cannot be there today. I am out of town. Mom and I have been lifting you and your family up in prayer. Mom is very saddened by the lost of a precious childhood friend. May you and your family find peace and comfort through our Lord and Savior. Love you my sister in Christ!

Mr. Harry "Buddy" Broadwell was a wonderful, kind, and gentle man. I knew him through his wonderful and precious wife, my co-worker Mrs. Martha. He would always call his wife and then say hello to me before he ended his call to Mrs. Martha. I would always say to Mrs. Martha how wonderful Mr. Buddy is how she and Mr. Buddy was match up by GOD himself. Two beautiful people (and him being from Fort Mill). Mr. Buddy and I often shared our faith with one another, and I loved him for that encouragement. I want his children and grandchildren to know that he has left a mark on my heart that I will share the gospel of Jesus Christ just as did with kindness and love for others. Please know that he has left y'all with a beautiful legacy. I know that I will miss him just as I miss my friend his wife.
