James Floyd Obituary

ROCK HILL, SC – James Winfield "Floopy" Floyd, 86, passed away on June 28, 2025, at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House. Born on December 24, 1938 in York County, SC, he was the son of the late James Winfield Floyd Sr. and Mary Frances Allen Floyd. He is survived by his wife of 66½ years, Jeanette W. Floyd; daughters, Deborah Rene Phillips (Bob) and Donna Marie Ramsey (Rusty); sister, Emily Floyd Wallace; grandchildren, Drew Conner (Kristi), Jason Conner (Annslee), Blake Conner, Taylor Ramsey (Lauren), and Madison Rizzo (Tim); and great-grandchildren, Mason, Charlie Rose, Savannah, Townes, Charley Jane, Lily Kay, and Walker Jett. He also leaves behind a close friend, Wendell Shelley (Mary). Mr. Floyd was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and attended York Technical College. He served in the U.S. Army and National Guard; he was a proud veteran. He worked at Bowater for 40 years. He was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church, Rock Hill Masonic Lodge 111, and the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Micha Jenkins Camp 1569. The family would like to thank Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House and Greene Funeral Home for their love and support. Memorials may be made to Lakewood Baptist Church Building Fund, 3250 Mt. Gallant Road, Rock Hill, SC, 29732. A funeral will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Lakewood Baptist Church, 3520 Mt. Gallant Road, Rock Hill, SC, 29732 with Rev. Jerry Devinney officiating. Visitation begins at 10:00 AM. Burial with military honors will follow at Laurelwood Cemetery. Condolences may be made to the family at greenefuneralhome.net.

We will miss you Mr. Floyd. We could always have a great conversation and always always always it was about our Lord and Savior. He was always like family to us and we love him dearly. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. ♥ Love Mr. & Mrs. Player, and our children. Blessed to have had a landlord for almost 7 years. You are truly missed.
