Shirley Jones Obituary

Rock Hill, SC – Shirley A. Jones, 95, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, in the presence of her loving daughter, Dana (Jones) Gilgis, and her son in law, Stewart Gilgis. Born on March 7, 1930, in Bemidji, Minnesota, she grew up in Duluth, MN. Shirley was a dedicated Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Shirley graduated from nursing school in Duluth and soon found her sweetheart, Dick (W. Richard Jones) in 1954. They shared 35 wonderful years together, raising three children. Shirley worked as a full-time housewife and part-time nurse until she was bitten by an unfortunate bug and was diagnosed with Golf. Shirley is survived by her children, Craig, Dana (Stewart), and Kelly; her granddaughter, Lexi (Tyler) Binder; a step grandson, Adam (Alissa); and four great grandchildren, Nora, Ella, Summer, and Avery. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lillian Nyhus, her sister Donna and brother Evan. She will be buried in Becida, MN alongside her parents. Shirley will be remembered for her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love for her family. She enjoyed golf, bridge, and exotic travel. Her legacy of love and generosity will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Condolences may be made at www.greenefuneralhome.net.
