William Roy Shirley

William Roy Shirley, 83, of Chester, SC passed away on Sunday, September 21st, 2025, at Piedmont Medical Center, in Rock Hill, SC.

The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 6 pm on Friday, October 3rd, 2025 at Bratton Funeral Home located at 1455 Filbert Hwy. York, SC 29745. A celebration of life service will be held immediately following the visitation in the funeral home chapel officiated by Chaplain Bob Martin. Military Honors will be performed by VFW Post 12136 Honor Guard after the celebration of life service. He loved bluegrass gospel music and his 1970 blue chevelle.

William was born on February 8, 1942, in Chester County, SC. He was the son of the late William Jess Shirley and Dessie Ghant Shirley. He was the owner of Shirley Masonry Construction Company, later known as Shirley/Walker Masonry Construction and he served his country proudly in the Army National Guard.

He is survived by his by two nieces, Julie Curtis (Ronnie) of Chester, SC and Jessie Liang of Los Altos, California, and two nephews, Burl and Earl Hand of Chester, SC. He is also survived by two great nieces Holly Sloan (Robert) of Chester, SC, and Jeannie Liang of Los Altos, California and his great nephew, Eric Britton of Rock Hill, SC. He was a great, great uncle to Holden Moser, Macie and Luke Sloan of Chester, SC.

In addition to his parents William was preceded in death by his siblings, Edna Katherine Shirley, Frank Moon Shirley, and Sara Hand. The family would also like to remember Lewis Shirley as a close family member to "Roy" for many years. He will be greatly missed.
