William Wilson Obituary
William Daniel Wilson of Rock Hill, SC died unexpectedly on September 30 th surrounded by members of his loving family.
Dan was born in Greer, SC to Azilee Stokes Wilson and George Wallace Wilson. The family moved to York, SC in 1949, where he attended York High School. He was a member of the school chorus, president of his junior class, and he drove a school bus during his senior year. While attending York High, Dan met the love of his life, Gloria Good. They were married in 1959, and they shared 64 wonderful years of marriage. God blessed them with two beautiful daughters, Karen and Lisa.
After graduating from high school, Dan attended Gardner Webb College, where he studied business administration, choral directing, and sang in the college choir. Dan worked in several different lines of employment until finding his life career with Bowater Federal Credit Union, where he began working in 1972. In 1981 he joined RHP&F Credit Union (Family Trust) where he retired in 2005 as VP of Collections and Recovery. He soon found out that retirement was not for him. He returned to the same department, working part-time for another 13 years, fully retiring at the end of 2018. He was also active in the Chamber of Commerce, where he served as Chairman of the Education Task Force in 1994 and 1995.
Dan loved music. In 1972 he became Minister of Music at Park Baptist Church. He was also the Director of Music at Eastview and Woodhaven Baptist Churches. In 1975, Dan formed LighTshine, a group of talented high school and college students. They traveled throughout South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia providing concerts to churches, schools and civic organizations. Dan really enjoyed sharing music with this group. The LighTshine program ended in 1985 and involved 46 students during its 10 years of music. Dan's music career ended in 2013 after 32 years of directing.
Dan was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Good Wilson. He is survived by his two daughters, Lisa (Mike) Broome, Karen (Anita) Wilson, his 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, who all lovingly called him Papa.
A service will be held on Sunday, October 5 th at 2:00 p.m. at Woodhaven Baptist Church, 2060 Marett Boulevard, Rock Hill, SC 29732, with Reverend Scott Blasingame and Reverend Rick Martin officiating. The family will receive guests after the service. Burial will be private.

Dan touched and made a difference in many lives. He will be missed. His memory will be a blessing. May he rest in sweet eternal peace.
