Ammon R. Alban

GLEN ROCK Ammon R. Alban, 81, died Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Hanover Hall Nursing Center following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Shirley R. (Spangler) Alban, with whom he observed their 58th wedding anniversary December 8, 2014. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2015, at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock, with the Rev. Wayne A. Shamer officiating. Burial will be in St. Jacob's (Stone) Church Cemetery, Glenville. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Alban was born on June 5, 1933, in Codorus Township and was a son of the late Russell F. and Effie J. (Messersmith) Alban. He graduated from the Glenville High School in 1951 and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He retired in 1995 from AMP, Inc., where he was a machinist for over 44 years. He also did machining at his home for many years. He was a member of the Austin L. Grove American Legion Post #403, Glen Rock, the Bean Club of Glenville, and the Brothers of the Brush Glen Rock. In addition to his wife, he leaves two daughters, Tina M. Alban of York and Amy L. Hughes of Glenville; a grandson, Zachary Hughes; and a brother, James Alban of Glen Rock.
